Play: Notebook LM Podcast Leveling up Learning with Scholastic Esports in LA County

As part of LACOE’s mission to democratize access to technology and digital education, the division is adjacently exploring innovative methods to support the integration of esports for their educators. Recently, interest and opportunities for scholastic esports implementation has been increasing in the K-12 space. Given its nascency, however, esports programs are not widely adopted in L.A. school districts, and information on navigating such programs is limited. Through esports program support, the Technology Services Division hopes to uniquely strengthen their educators in addressing key policy issues and district-specific priorities.

When translating this into esports programming, LACOE requires a needs-assessment of current esports program implementation and maintenance of their districts. To this end, our team is committed to this vision of examining esports as a sustainable and established educational program in L.A. County. The goal of our policy report is to evaluate the current landscape of esports in the region, identify barriers to access and participation, and provide recommendations to enhance the impact of educational esports programming. In our research endeavor, we aim to not only support the growth of esports, but also analyze its potential as a tool for positive student and community development through best implementation practices
